Let's Talk Logos

Little Bird Design is a culmination of Mom's ideas and my own -- ideas we've been exploring for years. Since graphic design runs deep in my educational background, it was important that it was incorporated into what we create for our Little Bird clients, particularly invitation stationery and logo packages. I'm excited to talk about the creation of two specific logos: one for a very talented young photographer in Michigan and the other -- our very own Little Bird.

First, what would our small business be without a logo?! Naming our business was easy, but a logo not so much. Like the start of most logos, I began with a rough idea and brainstormed fonts in Adobe Illustrator. For Little Bird, I had several good options, but Mom really encouraged the addition of leaves and bird elements. This whimsical thin line design went through several variations, but the continuous swirl forming the bird was the right fit for us. The circle motif relates a soft, approachable, and clean look -- similar to the chosen typeface. This logo package consists of variations and simplifications of the design, as well as grayscale versions.

Our photographer client, Tess, wanted an organic and handmade feel for her logo. Snaps by Tess Photography focuses on mainly outdoor portraiture and weddings, so green was the way to go! Similar to brainstorming Little Bird, many font variations were considered before I chose the final typeface. I played around with watercolors and scanned them in to Adobe Photoshop for use in the design. Tess felt the watercolor aspects should have more movement and reflect leaves and other greenery, but was happy with the typeface. So, back to the watercolors! I loved incorporating the handpainted watercolor into this logo. The result is something unique and personal to Tess, which is our goal no matter the client!

A special thank you to Tess for allowing me to create this logo for her! If you have any questions, contact us! And be sure to check out Snaps by Tess @ https://www.facebook.com/tessgearhartsnaps/ and https://www.snapsbytess.com/home.
